1 Inch Thick Anti Vibration Pads
An industry standard in passenger and freight elevators, Stiles's VIB PADS™ are heavy duty isolators of vibration and shock.
Vibration is a major cause of structural damage, worker fatigue and noise in equipment locations. By isolating the sources of vibration and shock with Stiles' 1 inch thick rubber vibration pads, it is possible to reduce these associated problems while helping to comply with OSHA's demand for a better working environment.
In principle, transmission of vibration is reduced to a minimum level when the vibration pad's natural frequency is 1/3 of the source frequency. Deflection of the vibration pads under load determine the natural frequency of the system. The number and size of the rubber vibration pads are dependent upon the weight, weight distribution, base size and shape, and the stability of the unit. The rubber vibration pads are placed under the frame, chassis, or base of the equipment at locations which will produce a stable condition free of excessive localized stress on equipment.
It is generally desirable to use pads not exceeding 20% deflection. In special instances deflections of up to 30% are performing well.
When lower frequencies requiring higher deflections are involved, the problem can be solved by stacking the rubber vibration pads with metal plates between layers. Total deflection will then be the deflection of the single vibration pad multiplied by the number of stacked vibration pads. Certain punch presses possessing extremely low frequencies are an example of where multiple vibration pads might be used.
For applications requiring mounting plates refer to the Generator Foot™ Generator Set Mounts.
